This 3-day workshop runs once a week over a three-week period and is designed for intermediate makers looking to deepen their skills in wheel-thrown tableware—specifically plates and pasta bowls. Led by a highly experienced tutor, this course offers expert guidance in a focused, small-group setting.
Each session is carefully structured to take you through the essential stages of the making process. You’ll begin by preparing your clay and throwing a variety of plate and bowl forms. In the following weeks, you’ll refine your work through trimming and carving, and finally glaze your finished pieces using our selection of studio glazes.
Day 1 – Throwing Plates & Pasta Bowls (21st of June )
After preparing your clay and watching a teacher-led demonstration, you'll spend the day throwing a variety of plate and pasta bowl forms on the wheel.
Day 2 – Trimming & Carving (28th of June )
Your plates will have slowly dried to a leather-hard stage and will be ready for trimming and carving. You’ll learn how to create a foot rim to elevate your plates, and you'll have the opportunity to add your own decorative touches.
Day 3 – Glazing Your Work (1th of July )
Your pieces will have been bisque-fired to 950°C and are now ready to be glazed. Choose from 12 beautiful studio glazes to finish your work. All materials and tools will be provided.
Each attendee has their own dedicated potters wheel and there is a maximum of 6 people who attend each class.
Expect to keep anywhere up to 3 pieces, depending on what happens when you are throwing! If you would like to keep more than 3 pieces, we charge an extra £5 a pot!
This 3 Days Workshop runs between 10:30AM and 13:30PM on Saturday 21st of June, Saturday 28th of June and the last glazing session will take place on Saturday 12th of July 2025.
