Join us for a three-part immersive ceramics workshop designed for all experience levels—from absolute beginners to those looking to deepen their skills. This intensive program blends hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques, giving you a well-rounded introduction to clay work in a supportive, creative environment.
Over the course of the workshop, you will:
Learn foundational hand-building methods such as coiling, pinching, and slab construction (cups, bowls, plates, and larger vessels)
Try your hand at wheel throwing, learning basic techniques on the potter’s wheel
Explore form, texture, and surface decoration to personalize your creations
Create several unique pieces with guided demonstrations and individual feedback
Workshop Structure:
Day 1 (Saturday 23th August):
Work with soft clay to build forms using coil and slab techniques, and get hands-on with the potter’s wheel.
Day 2 (Sunday 24th August):
Refine your creations as the clay firms up—add finishing touches, attachments like handles, and prepare your work for firing.
Day 3 – Glazing Session (Sunday 7th September, 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM):
Return two weeks later to complete your ceramic journey. In this dedicated glazing session, you'll apply colour and finish to your bisque-fired pieces, readying them for their final firing.
For the work that you decide to fire there will be a charge of £5 per kilogram to cover materials (clay, glaze) and firings.
The workshop runs between 10:00AM and 17:00PM on Saturday 23th and Sunday 24th August and glazing session on Sunday 7th.
