Join us for a three-part immersive ceramics workshop designed for all experience levels—from absolute beginners to those looking to deepen their skills. This intensive program blends hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques, giving you a well-rounded introduction to clay work in a supportive, creative environment.
Over the course of the workshop, you will:
• Discover essential hand-building techniques, including pinching and coiling, to create larger, sculptural vessels
• Experience wheel throwing, learning core skills on the potter’s wheel to form cylinders, bowls, and jars
• Experiment with form, texture, and surface decoration to develop your own creative style
• Produce a collection of unique ceramic pieces with guided demonstrations and personalised feedback throughout
Workshop Structure:
Day 1 (Saturday 16th May):
Begin working with soft clay, exploring hand-building through coiling, and enjoy an introduction to the potter’s wheel with hands-on practice.
Day 2 (Sunday 17th May):
Revisit your pieces as the clay begins to firm up—refining shapes, adding texture and details such as handles, and preparing your work for firing.
Day 3 – Glazing Session (Sunday 31st May 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM):
Return two weeks later to complete your ceramic journey. In this dedicated glazing session, you'll apply colour and finish to your bisque-fired pieces, readying them for their final firing.
For the work that you decide to fire there will be a charge of £5 per kilogram to cover materials (clay, glaze) and firings.
The workshop runs between 10:30AM and 16:00PM on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May and glazing session on Sunday 31st.
